What it is
Render Network is a marketplace for graphics processing power. Artists, studios and, increasingly, AI developers need large amounts of GPU time to render 3D scenes, animation and visual effects or run AI jobs. Render connects them with people who have spare GPUs, called node operators, who do the work and get paid in RENDER.
The token uses a model called burn-and-mint equilibrium. Customers burn RENDER to buy credits priced in dollars and use those credits to pay for jobs. Separately, the network mints new RENDER on a set schedule and pays it to node operators and other participants. If usage grows, more tokens are burned; if usage is weak, new minting outpaces burns and supply grows.
The token started as RNDR on Ethereum after a 2017 sale. In late 2023 holders voted to move the network to Solana, and RNDR was upgraded one-way to RENDER. Total supply is about 644 million, above the original cap of about 537 million, because the new model adds emissions over ten years. The Render Network Foundation oversees the network, and holders vote on Render Network Improvement Proposals. The network grew out of the graphics company OTOY.
What can go wrong
- Supply is no longer fixed; scheduled emissions keep adding tokens, and only real usage burns them back.
- Holders who still have RNDR on Ethereum must upgrade it themselves; the move is one-way, and fake migration sites are a known scam pattern.
- Render competes with large cloud providers and other decentralized GPU networks, and much of its value story depends on AI demand that may go elsewhere.
- The network's early growth was closely tied to one company's software and customers, which concentrates influence.

Compare how many RENDER tokens are burned by real jobs against how many are minted each month. That balance tells you more than any headline.
Safety checks
- Track recordGoodTrading since 2017, about 9 years. It has been through at least one full market cycle.
- Trading activityGood$47.0 million traded in the last 24 hours, 4.9% of its market value. That's enough activity that a normal-size order shouldn't move the price.
- Coins still to comeCaution518.8 million of 644.2 million maximum coins are in circulation, so about 19% are still to be released. New coins entering the market can push the price down as they're sold.
- Distance from its peakRed flagDown 86% from its all-time high of $13.53 in March 2024. Most people who bought near the top have lost most of their money. A big drop doesn't make a coin cheap.
- Past yearFor context−28.2% over the past year, against −25.3% for bitcoin. It has done worse than simply holding bitcoin.
History of trouble and big events
- 2017: RNDR token sold in an initial sale on Ethereum.
- Late 2023: Render moved to Solana and RNDR was upgraded to RENDER.
