What it is

Quant is a UK-founded company whose main product, Overledger, is software that lets banks and businesses connect to many different blockchains and existing payment systems through one interface. Rather than building its own blockchain, Quant positions itself as the plumbing between systems.

QNT is the token used to pay for Overledger licenses and access. Under the model Quant describes, businesses that use the software must buy and lock QNT for the length of their contract. The maximum supply is small for a crypto project, about 14.6 million tokens.

Quant's pitch is aimed at institutions. In May 2025 it said it had been selected as one of nearly 70 participants in the European Central Bank's digital euro innovation work, and in September 2026 The Clearing House picked it as the interoperability partner for a planned tokenized-deposit network among U.S. banks, targeted for 2027. Those announcements help explain sharp price moves: between late September and early October 2026 QNT roughly tripled, then fell back sharply the following week. Participation in pilots is not the same as a production contract, and it does not guarantee that clients will use QNT in large amounts.

What can go wrong

Bachi waving

When a coin jumps on a bank or central bank headline, read the actual announcement; a pilot or selection is usually far from a paid, large-scale deployment.
